Unlike the 105 series or Alfetta namesakes, the new GTV is front wheel drive and is actually built on a Fiat platform. The GTV and its convertible sibling, the Spider, were engineered for right hand drive from the commencement of the design project. The large bonnet for both the new Alfas is formed from a composite material which combines polymer resin and carbon fibre.
