The
2001 European Car of the Year, the Alfa Romeo 147 has been
launched into the Australian market. As for Europe, the Italian
carmaker is finding it difficult to meet the strong demand
for the smallest Alfa in the current range. Upon its launch
in Europe, Alfa Romeo estimated worldwide sales of 80,000
units for 2001. This has since been revised to 120,000. In
order to meet demand, Alfa Romeo is now estimating that 150,000
units need to be produced in 2002.
